Shine Vision Life Book Recommendation: Brene Brown’s ‘Atlas of the Heart’.

It is essentially about the importance of language to understand and map our emotions within our hearts and how we can use language as an insightful tool to find and build greater understanding, meaning, and connections of ourselves, our hearts, our human experience, and deeper connections with others.

It’s a beautiful book that takes us on an inward journey to ourselves and to connect our hearts and our lives, and what it means to be essentially human.

What is interesting and different about this book is that through her research from different cultures across the world, she uncovers that rather than just the eight basic emotions that people generally use to describe what they feel like anger, excitement, etc, we as humans experience a wide range of emotions that we feel and can connect with as (more than 87 mentioned in the book).

Also, she shared that as humans, we experience a particular emotion, we experience it on a scale moving from lower to higher rather than a fixed level. For e.g anger arising from a situation may start with just a stirring to describe what we feel, then move to annoyed or irritated or shifted, rather than just saying we are feeling angry.

It’s a great read if you looking to get a deeper inner awareness of your own emotions and to understand the emotions of others better, too.
